For 83 years, the Kimball family served Battle Creek by providing medical services to the community. The family first moved to the town in 1886 and soon after built a 14-room house on Maple Street where three generations lived. Since 1966, the Kimball House has welcomed the public to tour it. Inside is a museum that contains rare material relating to ex-slave, Sojourner Truth, as well as exhibits on significant local women.
